Shofar in the Street

Chabad of East Lakeview is dedicated to ensuring that every member of the community can participate in the meaningful mitzvah of hearing the shofar on Rosh Hashana. In addition to the shofar blowing during services at Chabad at 11:15 AM, Rabbi Dovid and a group of volunteers will be traveling around Lakeview to blow the shofar at various outdoor locations. If you’re unable to attend one of these gatherings, Chabad can arrange for a volunteer to visit your home and blow the shofar. Simply email info@JewishLakeview.com to set up a time and location.
The main outdoor shofar service will take place during the Tashlich service on Thursday, October 2, at 5:15 PM at Boat Park Playground. This family-friendly event will feature crafts for kids, apples to dip in honey, and a children’s performance.

Erev Rosh Hashana (Wednesday, October 2, 2024)
Anshe Emet Synagogue begins its High Holy Days services on Erev Rosh Hashana with a Ma’ariv service at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary, open to all ticket holders. For those attending Minyan T’ruah or Minyan Rimon, Mincha will take place at 6:30 PM, followed by Ma’ariv at 6:45 PM in the Malkov Chapel (both services are combined with Minyan T’ruah).
Rosh Hashana Day 1 Services (Thursday, October 3, 2024)
On the first day of Rosh Hashana, services begin with Shacharit at 8:30 AM in the Sanctuary, 4th Floor Gym, and Malkov Chapel. The Torah Service will follow at 9:45 AM in all locations. For families with young children, a Young Family Service will be held at 8:45 AM in the Blum Social Hall.
Later in the day, the community will gather for Tashlich at 5:00 PM at the Waveland Clocktower, followed by Mincha and Ma’ariv to close out the first day of Rosh Hashana.
Rosh Hashana Day 2 Services (Friday, October 4, 2024)
The second day of Rosh Hashana begins with Shacharit at 8:30 AM in the Sanctuary, 4th Floor Gym, and Malkov Chapel, with the Torah Service starting at 9:45 AM. A Young Family Service will again be available at 8:45 AM in the Blum Social Hall for families with children aged 5 and under.
Kol Nidre (Friday, October 11, 2024)
For Kol Nidre, doors will open at 5:15 PM in the Sanctuary, and the service will begin at 5:45 PM. Minyan T’ruah will hold Kol Nidre at 5:30 PM in the 4th Floor Gym, while Minyan Rimon will begin at 6:05 PM in the Malkov Chapel.
Yom Kippur Services (Saturday, October 12, 2024)
On Yom Kippur, services across all locations (Sanctuary, 4th Floor Gym, and Malkov Chapel) begin with Shacharit at 8:30 AM, followed by the Torah Service at 10:00 AM. Yizkor will take place at approximately 11:15 AM. In addition, a special Recorded Conversation with Dara Horn will be held at 2:30 PM in the Blum Social Hall (also available online). A Family Neilah Service for all ages will run from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The Neilah service, marking the conclusion of Yom Kippur, will begin at 5:30 PM in the Sanctuary and 5:45 PM in the 4th Floor Gym, with the shofar sounding at 6:54 PM to end the fast.
