The 44th Ward Community Plan is Live – Share Your Feedback
After months of community engagement—including surveys, emails, calls, and an in-person open house—the 2025 44th Ward Community Plan has been released for public review.
For the first time in nearly 20 years, there’s a new vision for the future of the 44th Ward, and we want to make sure the voices of Lakeview East residents and business owners are heard.
The 2025 44th Ward Community Plan was created with input from neighbors, small business owners, and local organizations—including the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce—to guide decisions on housing, transit, commercial development, and neighborhood improvements.
- Housing & Development – Making sure growth is smart and keeps Lakeview East welcoming for everyone, with an emphasis on transit-friendly housing and preserving the neighborhood’s character.
- Small Businesses & Commercial Corridors – Strengthening Lakeview’s business scene by supporting local shops, activating storefronts, and making the neighborhood an even better place to visit and shop.
- Transit & Infrastructure – Improving pedestrian safety, expanding bike lanes, pushing for better CTA service, and using vacant spaces for creative community projects.
- Neighborhood Amenities – Investing in parks, green spaces, dog-friendly areas, and cultural attractions to make Lakeview East an even more vibrant place to live.
The City of Chicago is now seeking feedback on two key areas:
- The plan as a whole – Share your thoughts, comments, and suggestions.
- Action Items – This section is currently blank and will outline steps to advance the plan’s core priorities. Your input will help shape the next steps for the ward.
The plan is a starting point, not the final word—your feedback will help shape specific action items to bring these ideas to life.
