Every year at The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, we have an awards ceremony that shines a spotlight on some of our local businesses, with awards like Best Window Display, Friendliest Customer Service, and more. For the first time EVER, we asked businesses to submit the names of their employees who they believe deserve some special recognition. We are asking our supportive community to vote on who you think is,

Nominations for Best Chef

Carmelo Nieto from Lost Never Found: “Carmelo is a dedicated and hardworking member of the LNF team. The kindness and care he exhibits to his team is unique and should be celebrated.”

Natalie Oswald from Chilam Balam: “The food is always excellent, and Chef Natalie is amazing through and through! NEVER disappoints with cuisine inspired by Mexico City and midwestern seasonality.”

Carlos Aleman at Sheffield’s: “He has been a loyal chef at my business for 16 years. Our food rocks, and he is the most dependable person I’ve met.”

Djibril Webb at Mordecai: “Chef Djibril’s knowledge, perspective on food, and creative menus have made a place where all staff, both front and back of house, are able to learn and grow. His dishes quickly become familiar favorites for our guests and our regulars know that they can always count on a delicious meal.”

Mike Abood at Lost Reef Lounge: “Mike has brought high end cocktails to Lakeview with top notch presentations and extreme vast knowledge.”

Tom Cathcart at Gman Tavern: “Loves to bang-out beer and shots, but challenge him for creative cocktail ideas!!!!”

Aaron Dias (AD) at Clark Street Dog and George Street Pub: “AD is a fixture in the neighborhood and currently works at Clark Street Dog and George Street Pub. He has a large following in Lakeview from other bars in the neighborhood as well as being a resident in Lakeview. He is the most hospitable and fun-loving bartender that I have had the pleasure of working with.”

Armando Sanchez at Uncommon Ground: “This is truly a man of the people. Takes his

time makes you feel at home, gets to know what your preferences are. Has immaculate taste in cuisine, music, and cocktails.”

Roxy Rea at Matilda: ” Roxy is always down to create some crazy concoction including helping to make memorable cocktails for the various private events at Matilda”

Jason Ruffin at Sheffield’s: “Jason is the most attentive, engaging and kind person I’ve ever had serve me at a bar. The guy is priceless.”

Rena Long at Mordecai: “Rena has been a wonderful addition to our team since she joined us in the fall. Her contagious laughter and the attentive care she shows her guests serve as a great example how warm and welcoming service can be.”

Her guests schedule out with her months in advance and our staff have grown under her mentorship. There are so many reasons Amanda should receive this award but to keep it short, it’s her commitment and passion for the industry that exceeds all else.”
