19th District Mutual Aid Support for Migrants

Migrants have been staying at the 19th District Police Station since April 2023.  Volunteers from across the area are partnering with the LakeView Lutheran Church and St. Mary of the Lake to fulfill basic needs the migrants have and support their transition to city-run shelters and ultimately housing.

They organize and work closely with LakeView Lutheran Church, Saint Mary of the Lake & Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, The Salvation Army, Centro Romero, the Offices of the 44th, 46th, and 47th wards and volunteers to support the 19th precinct and plan for sustained support as new temporary shelters are opened in the area.

Beginning today, Monday, November 20thCesar’s Killer Margaritas will be collecting donations for the House of the Good Shepherd.

House of the Good Sheperd is a local organization established to help victims of domestic violence get on their feet and provide a safe place.

Items needed include:

  • Diapers (sizes 5, 6 and 7)
  • Baby Wipes
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Hand Soap
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Toilet Paper

Donations will be accepted Monday, November 20th – Friday, December 15th at Cesar’s, in Lakeview, located at 2924 N Broadway, 60657.

House of the Good Shepherd opened one of the first domestic violence shelter/programs in Chicago in 1980, and has since helped more than 6,000 vulnerable women and children release themselves from the bondage and humiliation of family violence.
