Shalom! Hanukkah goes on until December 26th, and dozens of events are going on over the next 8 days right here in the neighborhood! Check out what you can do in celebration of this Jewish holiday!

Friday, Dec 16th, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Celebrate Shabbat and Chanukah with Makom with a special after-dark celebration! Partnering with Trybal Gatherings to bring you this chic event filled with warm rituals, delicious food, and good company! From 6:30-7:00 pm enjoy drinks and appetizers, from 7:00-7:30 pm there will be a warm service and musical meditation, and from 7:30-9:30 pm there will be dinner and dessert.

THEN, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm Join for the annual Chanukah party and welcome the Festival of Lights! Gather after Shabbat at Temple Sholom for games, treats, and good company.

Sunday, Dec 18th, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Join Sholom Justice for the annual Chanukah Box Project, as they pack and deliver boxes to those in need of a little extra assistance in the Chicagoland area. These boxes include all the ingredients to make a Chanukah meal and celebrate the festival of lights!

There will be candle lighting every day from Monday through Sunday from 7 to 7:30 pm! Note on Friday, December 23rd the lighting will be from 6:15 to 7:30 pm.

6 pm to 7 pm: Simchat Shabbat Community Shabbat Service. “Join us, in person or via Livestream, as we welcome in Shabbat together with a lively service celebrating those in our community whose birthday or anniversary falls in December! We will share a Friday evening service enriched with joy, followed by a light Oneg Shabbat. Service will be led by Rabbi Siegel and Cantor Brook.”

Light the menorah and sing-along with JCC Chicago Early Childhood. All are welcome to join us for a virtual song session with Ms. Amy and light the candles to celebrate the second night of Hanukkah. Grab your menorahs, candles and get ready to SING!

Sweeten up this Hanukkah night with some delicious ice cream from Graeter’s Ice Cream in Northbrook. Families are invited to hang out with friends, meet new ones and reunite with your ‘Z’ Frank Apachi family while enjoying a treat on JCC Chicago.

Sweeten up this Hanukkah night with some delicious ice cream at The Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream in Skokie. Families are invited to hang out with friends, meet new ones and reunite with your Apachi Evanston family while enjoying a treat on JCC Chicago.

Hanukkah, oh Hanukkah, come light the menorah at Elaine Frank Apachi Day Camp. All are welcome to celebrate the third night of the Festival of Lights, listen to music, compete in dreidel competitions, and enjoy s’mores by the campfire.

Camp Chi families are invited to come together for a fun evening of FREE Hannukah activities at The Revere, located in the Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook. Stick around for dreidel competitions, cookie decorating, and of course a bonfire and s’mores!

Nosh your heart out this Hanukkah with latkes and libations at Bernard Weinger JCC in Northbrook. Mix and mingle with fellow 20’s and 30’s, listen to live music from the Sunflower Headlights, play games and eat some tasty Chinese food from P.F. Chang’s. If it’s not too cold… we’ll enjoy smores by the fire.

Drop-in for the ultimate dreidel competition! All are welcome to celebrate the sixth night of Hanukkah with arcade & lawn games, snacks, cookie decorating and arts & crafts.

30 Something’s Dreidel Competition and Happy Hour

Graystone Tavern (3441 N Sheffield) turns into Chicago’s ONLY Hanukkah Pop-Up! Visit 8 Crazy Nights and be amazed by the thousands of blue lights and Hanukkah Decorations that cover every square inch of the space. On Wednesday, December 21st, they are hosting a special happy hour and dreidel competition for 30-somethings. Spin the dreidel and help ChiTribe keep the lights on this Hanukkah season. There will be a dreidel tournament with some amazing prizes. All proceeds go to ChiTribe, $5 buy-in.
