The Lakeview community is in for a sweet treat just in time for summer. Brothers Matt Wilcoxon and Jeff Wilcoxon of the 4th generation family owned and operated Johnson’s Real Ice Cream are happy to officially dedicate the opening of the first location outside of Ohio in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood on Saturday, May 4 at Noon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The shop is located at 2951 N. Broadway.
The shop, previously a Bobtail Ice Cream location with ties to Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, was purchased by the brand in January of 2019 and has a refreshed store design, and reimagined menu. Bobtail fans will be happy to know Johnson’s will continue to serve many of the popular flavors from the previous menu. According to Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Wilcoxon, “We have carried over several Bobtail fan favorites including Cubby Crunch, Daley Addiction, and Cappuccino Yogurt.” He continues,”Bobtail had been using many of the Johnson family recipes since its opening in 2004, and many of those favorites are included in the menu.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be complete with visits from members of the Wilcoxon family as well as local dignitaries from the Lakeview East Chamber including Chamber Executive Director Maureen Martino and the Chamber’s Board of Directors President Marc Engle.
“We are excited to officially mark this occasion and invite members of the community to come out and join us at this very special occasion” states Matt Wilcoxon, president of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream. The day will start off with delicious specials that will continue throughout the weekend.
