Today we unveiled the newest book donation drop box for the Open Books Organization! Located at the corner of Aldine and Broadway. We encourage our community to go through their formerly loved books and donate them to this incredible cause! Book donations help Open Books fund all of their literacy programs and free book giveaways in the city.
Open Books, a Chicago-based literacy organization, repurposes used books in two ways. Open Books either grants them to children who lack access to high-quality titles, or Open Books resells them in one of their two stores (WestLoop and Pilsen) and online. Children who benefit from book grants gain access to literacy. Proceeds from their sales help to fund their literacy programs, which reinforce reading and writing and spanning from birth through 12th grade. Open Books’ literacy programs impact 6,000 students every year, while their book grants empower 80,000 more.
