Weekend Happenings June 17-19

This week is FULL of celebrations! As pride month goes on, we continue to celebrate the LGBTQA+ community! Juneteenth is this Sunday, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. See where you can go this weekend to celebrate both Pride and Juneteenth! This Sunday is ALSO Father’s Day, and we know exactly how you should treat dad this year. It’s a big weekend full of events, so get your calendar ready!

Pride Fest

Northalsted on Halsted Street from Addison to Grace St.

This Saturday and Sunday is the much-anticipated Pride Fest on Halsted! The festival features live music by headline artists and local favorites, 3 stages, food and drink galore, arts and crafts vendors, DJs and dancing, drag shows, pet parade, sponsored presence, games, giveaways, and even more. This year, performances include headliners Alaska, Dorian Electra, CupcakKe, and Netta.

Pride Fest is one of the summer’s hottest events and is the perfect way to prepare for the Pride Parade next weekend. Click here to see the full schedule! A suggested $15 donation is being asked at the gates. The fun begins at 11 am on both days and ends at 10 pm.

Enjoy Pride Fest in comfort and style at the KitKat Lounge VIP dance floor! Catch all the action from the Waveland Stage and keep your drinks refreshed at our VIP outdoor full bar. Avoid crowds and long lines for drinks and come dance the weekend away. All tickets allow entry onto Kit Kat Lounge VIP dance patio, access to a full bar, and easy views of the Waveland DJ stage.

Adopt and Shop
On Broadway Street from Belmont to Roscoe

Who doesn’t love dogs and shopping? Join us Saturday for the first-ever Adopt & Shop, where local businesses are partnering with adoption agencies for the common goal to save some puppy lives. We invite you AND your furry friend to come spend the day with us! Shop along Broadway and receive discounts and specials at participating spots. We will have on site photographers and portrait artists to capture you and your pup in all your glory. Treats and special gifts will be handed out all day, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Pride Drag Show

Come one come all to the Pride Drag Show! This Saturday from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm, be amazed as six drag queens take over the Newport stage and give you the show of a lifetime.

Amanda Lynn, Coco Sho-Nell, Mrs. Yuka Layme, Muffy Fishbasket, & Vivian DeJour are back together again to bring you this premier drag event. This month featuring special guest MALE SPICE! This Drag Family combines the qualities of traditional drag, cabaret, and performance art all in one show! So, gather that tipping cash and get those tickets for this interactive drag experience you’re not likely to find anywhere else!”

Unbridged Books is celebrating Juneteenth by donating 100% of profits on June 19th to the Black Women’s Health Imperative, the oldest national organization dedicated solely to improving the health and wellness of our nation’s 21 million Black women and girls. Kokedama Workshop

What is a kokedama you may ask? A kokedama is a moss-covered ball of soil on which an ornamental plant grows. Originating in Japan, these plants make gorgeous house décor, and this Saturday you have the opportunity to create your own! Join us at Plant Stand Collective from 11:30 am to 1 pm and get assistance in making a masterpiece. Priced at $60 a person, registration is required in order to participate. Registration includes all necessary materials, a care card, a plant, and a t-shirt.

This Saturday Third Space Community Center is hosting a plant swap, where you are invited to trade your plants for others. This event is FREE and no selling is allowed! The swap will take place from 11 am to 1 pm. Bring your green thumb and we’ll see you there!

Drag Race All Stars Viewing Party

Every Friday night, head over to Roscoe’s in boystown for their Drag Race All Stars viewing party! Special guests for the evening include former All Star Miz Cracker, and Pangina Heals from Drag Race Thailand! As always, Naysha Lopez and Batty Davis will be hosting for the evening. The show begins at 7 pm, followed by performances and a night full of dancing and drinking.
