Spring is the perfect time to begin cleaning out every nook and cranny of your home! There are thrift stores all over Lakeview East that will accept any kind of donations you might have.

Out of the ClosetLocated at 3311 N. Halsted, Out of the Closet accepts furniture, kitchenware, tools, musical instruments, men’s clothing, women’s clothing, shoes (teen and adult sizes only), books, film & TV memorabilia, CDs & records, liquidations, estate items, and artwork. Currently, they cannot accept mattresses, water beds, bedding and linens, towels, medical supplies, built-in appliances that are over three years old, printers, scanners, fax machines, children’s clothing & accessories, or office furniture/corporate items. You can donate in-store, or you can schedule a pickup for larger items. All donations are tax deductible!

The Brown ElephantThe Brown Elephant has three locations across Chicago, with one opening in Lakeview! Located at 812 West Belmont, they are currently accepting donations for their new location. They are accepting clothing, as well as home decor. All proceeds from Brown Elephant go to support LGBTQ+ healthcare and to fund care for the uninsured and under-insured at Howard Brown Health.

Mount Sinai Resale ShopMount Sinai Resale Shop, located at 2902 N Clark, accepts new and gently used clothing, linens, accessories, jewelry, watches, glassware, decor, art, lamps, electronics, tools, toys, books, DVD, VHS, Vinyl, furniture (if pre-approved). They do not accept used undergarments, bras, socks, swimsuits, mattress toppers, bed pillows, mattresses, box springs, textbooks, outdated travel books, tube/CRT TVs and monitors, large exercise equipment, cribs, car seats, strollers, used medical and breastfeeding supplies, building materials, firearms, weapons, cosmetics, toiletries, or food.
