“Brunch, not quite breakfast or lunch, is one of the best parts of the weekend. Because after a long week, people deserve to kick back and relax over omelets and Bloody Marys. Don’t ruin things by making the wrong choice. The Eater Chicago Brunch Heatmap is here to help by highlighting the newest restaurants offering killer brunch options.
This month’s additions include vegan oasis No Bones Beach Club, Matthias Merges’ whiskey bar Mordecai, and Midwestern-focused Twain. They join a growing number of eateries dedicated to having midday menus that are more than just an afterthought. So start Sunday Funday off right with eggs (and much more) at these 20 hotspots.
1. Big Star
It’s been a long time coming but Big Star has finally launched brunch service at its Wrigleyville location. The wildly-popular taqueria and whiskey bar is chasing away hangovers with a breakfast carnita sandwich, huevos rancheros, chorizo quesadillas, and a Bloody Maria, of course.
Eater Chicago’s 2018 Bar of the Year isn’t only focused on drinks. The approachable menu caters to both sports fans and food-minded diners alike with dishes such as Bloody Caesar mussels, cookie butter French toast, fried oyster frittata, and Cracker Jack beignets. And in addition to the impressive collection of Pappy Van Winkle and other rare spirits, guests can kick back with a white whiskey Bloody Mary during brunch.”
