Weekend Happenings August 12-14

Time really flies during Summertime Chi! This weekend we are officially halfway through August! We recommend soaking up every second of summers remaining weekends. Here’s what we got going on this weekend.

Dine out on Broadway

It’s time for another weekend of Dining out on Broadway (the second to last one)! We will be closing the streets down on Broadway Street from Belmont to Wellington, and all participating restaurants will have extended patios to fit you and your crew! Bring the kids and let them battle in a game of giant Jenga or giant connect four! Most participating restaurants allow dogs on the extended patio, so don’t leave little Fido behind either.

Participating restaurants include: Bombay Eats, Buena Vista, Cere’s Table, Chilam Bilam, Dram Shop, Fancy Plants Café, Flub a Dub Chub, Little Wok, Monsignor Murphys, Mortar and Pestle, Sila’s Mediterranean, Stella’s Diner, The Bagel, Wilde, and Yellowtail Sushi.

Album Release Party

GMAN Tavern

3740 N Clark

Combining blazing guitars, mischievous basslines, and drums that are wilder than a senior center on bingo night, the Chicago punk band Nowhere Days is back with their second album, Hell Is Real, out on Super Star Tracks Records. Produced by the legend-in-the-making Dan Tinkler, the album expands on the bands sound and introduces some darker, moodier elements to go alongside the loud, fast, punk songs the band is known for. Joining them for the evening is fellow punk rock band Bad Year, and Chicago’s very own Alleys and Gangways. Rock and roll your way over to GMAN Tavern Friday night, the show begins at 8 pm and tickets are available in advance!
