Public Art in Lakeview East

If you’ve strolled down Broadway or Clark and found yourself snapping a selfie in front of a mural, you already know public art is part of the magic here in Lakeview East. Our walls, alleys, and little pocket corners tell stories, they brighten up your walk to work, give you a reason to pause with your coffee, and turn an ordinary block into something unforgettable.

Our Public Art Program

With support from SSA #8 & SSA #17, our Public Art Program keeps that creative spark going. We team up with artists, building owners, and neighbors to bring ideas to life — from murals that stretch across entire buildings to sculptures that make you laugh out loud, and sometimes even those quirky, unexpected surprises that you stumble on and just have to show a friend.

The goal? To celebrate what makes Lakeview East unique, reflect the diversity of our community, and make our streets feel welcoming and alive. Every project adds another brushstroke to the colorful canvas that is our neighborhood.

Why It Matters

Public art isn’t just something pretty to look at. It helps our small businesses by drawing folks to explore new blocks, it gives visitors one more reason to fall in love with the neighborhood, and it builds pride for the people who call Lakeview East home. It’s our way of saying: this is who we are, and everyone’s invited to be part of it.

Do you want more art in the neighborhood?

We do too! If you’ve got a wall, a creative idea, or a project you’d love to see come to life, our Public Art Program can help make it happen. With support from SSA #8 & SSA #17, we can provide funding to bring new murals, sculptures, and installations into Lakeview East. Let’s team up to add even more color and character to our streets!

Want to Get Involved?

Public art works best when it feels like it belongs to the whole neighborhood, and that’s where you come in. If you’re an artist with an idea, we’d love to see your sketches. If you’re a property owner with a blank wall, let’s talk about turning it into something the community can enjoy. And if you’re a neighbor who just loves the energy art brings, you can help us spread the word or even sponsor a project to keep Lakeview East colorful.

Every proposal we receive is reviewed by the Chamber and the appropriate SSA to make sure it fits the character of the neighborhood, adds value for our residents and visitors, and is feasible for the space. We’re looking for pieces that brighten the day, tell a story, and give people one more reason to love Lakeview East.

Whether it’s a bold mural, a playful sculpture, or something completely unexpected, we’re here to help bring your idea to life through supplemental funding
